Static sites are simple to host. In most cases, you can start for free.
The main differences are bandwidth, build limits, and commercial-use rules. Those limits matter more than raw server power.

- Usage pricing past the credit can climb fast with real traffic, especially data transfer.
- The free tier is for non-commercial projects only.
Cloudflare Workers

Genuinely free for small sites — bandwidth is never billed.

- Static sites and JS/TS apps where bandwidth costs matter or a global edge is a plus.
- How deploys work
- Deploy from Git or with the wrangler CLI; framework adapters handle SSR apps.
- The tradeoff
- More platform-specific setup than the git-push hosts — adapters, wrangler config, and Workers-flavored storage.
If you expect sudden traffic, look closely at bandwidth. Cloudflare does not charge for it. Netlify uses credits, while Vercel Pro charges for overages.
